When a child sees themselves in a story

A child recognized their own limb difference in one of the books provided by Nana’s Books Foundation. It was a simple moment, but one that captured exactly what thoughtfully selected stories can do: help children recognize themselves and better understand the experiences around them.
A love of books that became a legacy
Nana’s Books Foundation was created in memory of Nancy Dulniak, a lifelong librarian, avid reader, mother, and grandmother whose love of books was woven throughout her life.
After Nancy was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, a precursor to Alzheimer’s disease, her family’s experience helped inspire a foundation that could use books to help children understand Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other experiences that can be difficult to explain.
