Support for Communities

We will provide Alzheimer’s and dementia-awareness books to public libraries to help educate communities about the emotions and dealings with people suffering from Alzheimer’s. We will also provide books about other disabilities, representing that everyone is special in their own way. Books are a great resource to raise awareness and initiate conversations with children about difficult and sometimes uncomfortable topics. Through literacy and education, our Foundation builds upon the kindness and compassion of all residents and communities.

Pember Library Donation

On July 22, 2021, Nana’s Books Foundation made its first official donation of books to Pember Library in Granville, NY. This was a special day for us as we honored Nancy Dulniak at the library where she fell in love with reading. Nancy grew up in Granville, NY and was awarded her first library card at the age of 6! As she grew older, she volunteered at Pember Library as an assistant. It was here where she knew in her heart that she wanted to make a career as a librarian.

A donation of 21 books on Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other disabilities were provided witnessed by many family and friends.

"Family members dealing with Alzheimer’s have so much to learn. These books help to give guidance and support to caregivers. In the early 1960s, my grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. A collection of books like this might have been helpful to my mother who was overwhelmed with the job of caring for him, while working and raising five children."

Ardyce Bresett, Pember Librarian
