Books that help children understand their world and each other

OUR IMPACT

Nana’s Books Foundation puts thoughtfully selected books into the hands of children and the libraries, schools, and communities that serve them. Each book creates an opportunity for children to learn, ask questions, and better understand experiences affecting themselves and others.

Students at Owings Mills Elementary hold donated books around a handwritten “Thank You! Nana’s Books” sign in their school library.

Thousands of books. Thousands of children. A growing reach.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

Nana’s Books doesn’t simply deliver books. Children take them home and discover characters and experiences that help them understand themselves and others. Stories can also create opportunities for conversations about topics that are difficult to explain.

Thank You notes created by students tell another part of the story in children’s own words.

“Thank you for visiting our school. Thank you for all the amazing books for home and school. We will embrace your message: KINDNESS and COMPASSION.”

It takes more than books to make this happen

BEHIND THE BOOKS

Every book Nana’s Books distributes has a journey before it reaches a child. Books are received, organized, stored, packed, transported, and delivered to schools and libraries that put them into the hands of children and families.

Much of that work happens far from the classroom through the time, care, and hands-on effort of the people who make each delivery possible.

IN COMMUNITIES

Nana’s Books works with Title I schools and public libraries to place thoughtfully selected books in communities where they can be discovered, shared, and taken home.

In classrooms, school libraries, and public libraries, children find stories that reflect experiences they may recognize in themselves, their families, and the people around them.

MADE POSSIBLE TOGETHER

Nana’s Books Foundation’s reach is made possible by people and organizations who believe children deserve access to books that help them understand themselves, their families, and the world around them.

Donors help fund the work. Sponsors and community partners expand what is possible. Volunteers give their time and talents. Together, they help Nana’s Books reach more schools, libraries, children, and families.
